Retirements

Post by Rufus » Sat Oct 12, 2019 11:53 am

From the club:

The North Adelaide Football Club bid farewell to two Rooster stars with both Aidan Tropiano and Max Thring announcing their retirement from SANFL Football at tonight’s club champion function.

Midfielder Aidan Tropiano spoke with our Coaching Staff at the end of the season to advise of his desire to return home to Western Australia to be closer to family. In recent weeks, Aidan confirmed that he would be returning home to Western Australia with his wife Alex and daughter Aurora.

“Alex, Aurora and I will be moving back to WA for the opportunity to be around family and plant some roots. It has been the best experience and football club I have been a part of. The club isn’t just a friend to us it is truly a family. It breaks our heart that we are at the next phase of our life but also excited to see what’s next. We love everyone that is a part of the club and we just want to say thank you for everything you have done for us. We love you all and we call North Adelaide our family/home.”

The hard working midfielder played 39 games and kicked 15 goals over his two seasons at Prospect Oval and represented South Australia in the State team earlier this year.

Aidan is the ultimate professional with elite standards, who performed at a consistently high level each week. He will leave the Roosters as a Premiership Player & our 2019 Barrie Robran Club Champion.

Aidan, Alex and Aurora will be greatly missed around the Club and we wish them all the very best!

Max Thring discussed his future with the club over the past two weeks and has made the decision to call time on his SANFL journey after 123 games for the Roosters. Max, captain for the past 2 seasons, has battled injury issues regularly, especially in recent times which have led him to this decision. When fit, Max is one of the best players in the competition and the heart and soul of the playing group. A genuine match winner, the highly skilled midfielder was damaging through the midfield and also forward of the ball.

“It’s great to see your teammates develop as players, but the most pleasing thing has been to see them develop as individuals. That sense of family is the best thing about this club and the hardest thing to say goodbye to.”

Max has been an outstanding contributor to the football club since arriving in 2010. Max leaves as a Premiership Captain and Barrie Robran Club Champion, which he won in 2017. He is highly respected by all involved and we wish Max every success in his future endeavours.

Please join us in thanking both Aidan and Max for their commitment and performances for the Roosters.

Hope we can entice Billy Laurie to stay now seeing Max Thring is leaving. Another big loss if he goes played a real solid second half of year (polled well B&F). Just started to show what he can especially marking and forward

Well, the mighty Port Macquarie Magpies won't know themselves with both Maris and Max joining their club.
